About this screen

Software companies sell programs and services for businesses and consumers, increasingly as subscriptions that renew each year. Once the code is built, each extra customer costs little to serve, so successful software firms can combine fast growth with high margins. This screen keeps application and infrastructure software companies with a market cap of at least $2 billion whose revenue grew 10% or more year over year in the latest quarter.

The Growth tab shows quarterly and multi-year revenue and EPS growth. To weigh growth against profitability, switch to Profitability for operating margin and to Valuation for EV/Sales and FCF yield. Many younger software firms report losses because of stock-based compensation and sales spending, so P/E is often blank or very high. A Rule of 40 filter is a common next step.

Best Software Stocks to Buy in 2026 FAQ

Which growing software stocks are the largest?

As of the October 29, 2026 close, 106 software companies with a market cap of at least $2 billion had revenue growth of 10% or more in the latest quarter. The largest companies on the list are Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR) and Oracle Corporation (ORCL).

What is the difference between application and infrastructure software?

Application software is used directly by people for tasks like accounting, design, sales or collaboration. Infrastructure software runs underneath, covering databases, operating systems, security, developer tools and data platforms.

Why is EV/Sales used to value software companies?

Many software companies reinvest heavily and report little or no profit, so earnings-based ratios are not meaningful. EV/Sales compares the whole company's value with revenue, allowing comparisons between profitable and unprofitable firms.
