About this screen
Investors drawing income in retirement usually care about two things: a dependable cash payout and a portfolio that does not swing too sharply. This screen combines a yield of at least 3% and a decade of dividend increases with a 5-year beta of 0.8 or less, meaning the share price has historically moved less than the market. The low-beta filter is what separates this list from a plain dividend screen.
Results are sorted by yield. The Filters tab shows yield, beta, growth streak and size together. Beta is measured on past prices and can change when a business or interest rates change, and low-beta lists lean toward utilities, consumer staples and telecoms, so sector concentration is worth checking. Investors focused on total return rather than income may want to compare dividend growth rates as well.
Dividend Stocks for Retirement FAQ
Which dividend stocks have low volatility and high yields?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 58 stocks with a market cap above $5 billion had a yield of at least 3%, a beta of 0.8 or less and 10 or more years of dividend growth. The highest yields were Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ), TELUS Corporation (TU) and NNN REIT Inc (NNN).
What does a beta of 0.8 mean?
Beta measures how much a stock has moved relative to the overall market. A beta of 0.8 means that, historically, the stock rose or fell about 80% as much as the market on average. It describes past price behavior, not business risk.
Should retirees focus on income or total return?
Income investors live on dividends and avoid selling shares, while total-return investors sell a portion of a diversified portfolio as needed. Both approaches are common; the right mix depends on tax situation, spending needs and risk tolerance.
