About this screen
Dozens of Chinese companies list their shares in the US, mostly as American depositary receipts (ADRs). They span e-commerce, internet platforms, electric vehicles, education, travel, biotech and financial services, and give US investors direct access to the Chinese economy. Many also trade in Hong Kong, and the two listings usually move together after adjusting for the ADR ratio and exchange rate.
The list opens on the Valuation tab, because Chinese stocks often trade at lower multiples than US peers, reflecting regulatory, political and delisting risks. Many use a variable interest entity (VIE) structure, which means ADR holders own a contractual claim rather than direct equity in the operating business. Compare P/E with revenue growth, and check 1Y performance, which can differ sharply from US markets.
Chinese Stocks Listed in the US FAQ
How many Chinese stocks are listed in the US?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 44 companies based in China or Hong Kong with a market cap of $1 billion or more were listed on US exchanges. The largest companies on the list are Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA), NetEase, Inc (NTES) and JD.com, Inc. (JD).
What is an ADR?
An American depositary receipt is a certificate issued by a US bank that represents shares of a foreign company. ADRs trade in dollars on US exchanges like ordinary stocks, and one ADR may equal one share or a fixed number of shares.
What is a VIE structure?
A variable interest entity structure lets a Chinese company raise foreign capital in sectors where direct foreign ownership is restricted. An offshore holding company, whose shares are listed abroad, controls the Chinese operating business through contracts rather than ownership. Investors face the risk that these contracts may not be enforceable.
