About this screen
Restaurant stocks range from global quick-service brands and coffee chains to fast-casual concepts and sit-down dining groups. Their results depend on traffic, menu prices, food and labor costs, and how quickly they open new locations. Investors follow same-store sales closely because they show whether existing restaurants are growing, separate from the boost new openings give to total revenue.
The list opens on the Profitability tab. Business models differ widely: heavily franchised chains collect royalties and show high operating margins on modest revenue, while company-operated chains report more revenue but lower margins. Compare revenue growth in the Growth tab with margins here, and check debt/equity, since some franchisors carry substantial debt. P/E and EV/EBITDA in the Valuation tab show how the market prices growth.
Restaurant Stocks FAQ
How many restaurant stocks are listed in the US?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 29 US-listed restaurant companies had a market cap of $500 million or more. The largest companies on the list are McDonald's Corporation (MCD), Starbucks Corporation (SBUX) and Yum! Brands, Inc. (YUM).
What are same-store sales?
Same-store sales, also called comparable sales, measure revenue growth at restaurants open for at least a year. They exclude new openings and closures, so they show whether existing locations are attracting more customers or charging higher prices.
Why do franchised restaurant companies have higher margins?
A franchisor earns royalties and fees while franchisees pay for food, staff and rent. Revenue is smaller, but most of it is profit, which leads to operating margins far above those of chains that run their own restaurants.
