About this screen

Dividend ETFs hold baskets of dividend-paying companies picked by yield, dividend growth record or quality screens. This page favors size and cost over maximum yield: every fund manages at least $1 billion and charges 0.40% a year or less. That leaves the established income funds many investors compare first, rather than niche products with the highest payouts.

Sorting by assets puts the most widely held funds at the top, but their methods differ. Some chase high current yield and lean toward utilities, energy and financials; others require years of dividend increases and yield less. Compare the sector weight on the Fund tab and years of distribution growth on the Distributions tab. For yields of 4% or more, see the High Dividend ETFs page.

Best Dividend ETFs to Buy in 2026 FAQ

How many dividend ETFs meet these criteria?

As of the October 29, 2026 close, 26 US stock ETFs yielded at least 2.5% with an expense ratio of 0.40% or less and more than $1 billion in assets. The largest are Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD), Vanguard Real Estate ETF (VNQ) and Utilities Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLU).

What is the difference between high-dividend and dividend-growth ETFs?

High-dividend funds select stocks with the biggest current yields, which often means slower-growing, value-oriented sectors. Dividend-growth funds select companies with long records of raising payouts; they usually yield less today but have historically grown their distributions faster.

How are dividend ETF distributions taxed?

In a taxable US account, most distributions from US stock dividend funds are qualified dividends taxed at long-term capital gains rates, as long as the holding period rules are met. The fund reports the breakdown on Form 1099-DIV each year.
