About the NASDAQ

Nasdaq opened in 1971 as the world's first electronic stock market, matching buyers and sellers by computer instead of on a trading floor. Its name originally stood for National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations.

Nasdaq lists companies in three tiers with different size and governance standards: the Global Select Market, the Global Market and the Capital Market. It has long attracted technology and biotechnology companies, but its listings span every sector, including banks, retailers and industrial firms.

This list includes common stocks and American depositary receipts (ADRs) of foreign companies that trade on the Nasdaq. Funds, preferred shares, warrants and units are not included.

Funds that track the NASDAQ: Fidelity Nasdaq Composite Index ETF (ONEQ).

Browse by sector: Healthcare, Technology, Financial Services, Industrials, Consumer Cyclical, Communication Services, Consumer Defensive, Basic Materials, Real Estate, Energy, Utilities.
