What is the difference between NYSE and Nasdaq stocks?
Both are US stock exchanges regulated by the SEC, and investors buy and sell their stocks the same way through any broker. The NYSE is the older exchange and lists many long-established industrial, financial and consumer companies; Nasdaq is known for technology and growth companies. A company chooses where to list, and some move between them.
What is market capitalization?
Market capitalization (market cap) is the total value of a company's shares: the share price multiplied by the number of shares outstanding. It is the usual way to rank companies by size, from mega-caps worth hundreds of billions of dollars to micro-caps worth less than $300 million.
