About this screen

Most US companies pay dividends quarterly, but a smaller group pays every month instead. The group is dominated by REITs, business development companies, closed-end style income vehicles, and energy and royalty companies. Retirees and other income investors like monthly payers because the cash arrives on the same schedule as their bills, which makes budgeting and reinvesting simpler.

The screen counts actual payments over the trailing twelve months, allowing 11 to 13 to cover timing shifts around year end. A company that recently switched to monthly payments may not appear yet. Monthly payers often have high yields, so check the payout ratio and years of dividend growth in the Dividends tab, and the 1-year price change, before treating a high yield as sustainable.

Monthly Dividend Stocks FAQ

How many US stocks pay monthly dividends?

As of the October 29, 2026 close, 41 US-listed stocks with a market cap above $300 million had made 11 to 13 dividend payments in the last 12 months. The highest yields were Orchid Island Capital, Inc. (ORC), BlackRock ESG Capital Allocation Trust (ECAT) and ARMOUR Residential REIT, Inc. (ARR).

Are monthly dividend stocks better than quarterly payers?

Not by itself. The payment schedule changes when cash arrives, not how much a company pays over a year. A monthly payer yielding 5% and a quarterly payer yielding 5% return the same income annually.

Why are so many monthly dividend stocks REITs and BDCs?

REITs and business development companies must distribute most of their taxable income to keep their tax status, and many collect rent or interest monthly. Paying shareholders on the same cycle matches their cash flow and appeals to income-focused buyers.
