About this screen
A year-to-date ranking shows which established companies the market has rewarded most since January. Leaders often share a theme, such as an industry upturn, a new technology or a recovery from a deep slump the year before, so the top of the list is a quick way to see where money has been flowing. The $2 billion floor leaves out small, thinly traded stocks.
Returns are price changes from the last close of the previous year and do not include dividends. Early in the year the ranking is noisy and can change quickly. Compare 1-year and 3-year returns in the same view to tell a recovery from a long-running winner, and check valuation before treating past gains as a guide.
Best-Performing Stocks of 2026 FAQ
What are the best-performing stocks this year?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 2,068 US-listed stocks had a market cap of $2 billion or more. The biggest year-to-date gains were at Moderna, Inc. (MRNA), Sandisk Corporation (SNDK) and Twist Bioscience Corporation (TWST).
How is year-to-date performance calculated?
It is the percentage change from the last closing price of the previous calendar year to the latest close. Prices are adjusted for splits; dividends are not included.
Do this year's winners keep outperforming?
Sometimes. Momentum research suggests strong performers often keep leading for a few months, but large gains also raise expectations and valuations, which can lead to sharp reversals.
