About this screen
Most screens for stocks far below their highs fill up with distressed, unprofitable companies. This one only keeps businesses worth $5 billion or more that still earn a return on equity of at least 15% and a net margin of at least 10%, so the list focuses on established, profitable firms that the market has marked down sharply over the past year.
Profitability figures come from the latest reported results, which may not yet reflect the problem behind the decline. Read recent earnings and guidance, compare analyst targets in the Analysts tab and check whether margins are trending down in the Profitability tab. A deep drop in a quality business can still continue if its outlook has truly changed.
Beaten-Down Quality Stocks FAQ
Which quality stocks have fallen the most from their highs?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 103 profitable stocks with a market cap above $5 billion traded at least 30% below their 52-week high. The deepest declines were at The Trade Desk, Inc. (TTD), Figure Technology Solutions, Inc. (FIGR) and AppLovin Corporation (APP).
What is return on equity?
Return on equity (ROE) is net income divided by shareholders' equity. It shows how much profit a company generates from the capital its owners have invested.
Why do good companies fall 30% or more?
Common causes are a disappointing quarter, a cut to guidance, new competition, regulation, an industry-wide slowdown or a valuation that had become too high. The market often reprices expectations faster than the business itself changes.
