About this screen
Telecom services companies provide mobile, broadband, cable television and enterprise network services. Subscribers pay monthly, which gives the industry recurring revenue that holds up well in recessions, but building and upgrading wireless and fiber networks takes enormous capital. The combination of steady cash flow, slow growth and high debt has made telecom stocks a traditional source of dividend income.
The list opens on the Dividends tab. Compare yield with payout ratio and FCF yield to judge whether dividends are covered after network spending, and check debt/equity in the Profitability view, since leverage is high across the group. Foreign carriers with US-listed ADRs are included and may pay dividends once or twice a year. Tower and data center landlords are classified as REITs and are not included.
Telecom Stocks FAQ
How many telecom stocks are listed in the US?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 36 US-listed telecom services companies had a market cap of $1 billion or more. The largest companies on the list are Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ), T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS) and AT&T Inc. (T).
Why do telecom stocks pay high dividends?
Telecom companies collect predictable monthly bills from millions of customers and grow slowly, so they return much of their cash flow to shareholders. High dividends also compensate investors for limited growth and heavy debt loads.
Why is free cash flow important for telecom companies?
Network upgrades and spectrum purchases consume a large share of operating cash flow. Free cash flow, what remains after capital spending, is what actually funds dividends and debt repayment, so it is a better test of dividend safety than earnings.
