About this screen
The solar industry includes companies that make panels and cells, power electronics such as inverters and microinverters, mounting and tracking systems, and businesses that install and finance rooftop systems. Falling equipment costs have made solar one of the cheapest sources of new electricity, and long-term growth in installations attracts investors interested in the energy transition.
Solar stocks are sensitive to interest rates, because most projects and home systems are financed, and to changes in tax credits and trade policy. Look at % from 52-week high and 1Y performance to see how far each stock has moved, debt/equity for balance-sheet risk, and analyst upside in the Analysts tab. Utilities that own solar farms are classified in the utilities sector and are not included.
Solar Stocks FAQ
How many solar stocks are listed in the US?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 9 US-listed solar companies had a market cap of $300 million or more. The largest companies on the list are First Solar, Inc. (FSLR), Nextracker Inc. (NXT) and Enphase Energy, Inc. (ENPH).
Why are solar stocks so volatile?
Their results depend on government incentives, import tariffs, interest rates and component prices, all of which can change quickly. Many smaller companies are not yet consistently profitable, which magnifies moves in the share price.
How do interest rates affect solar companies?
Most solar installations are paid for with loans, leases or project financing. Higher rates raise monthly costs for homeowners and lower returns for developers, which can slow orders for equipment and installation.
