About this screen
Biotechnology companies develop medicines from living systems, including antibodies, gene and cell therapies, vaccines and RNA-based drugs. The larger firms on this list typically have approved products, late-stage pipelines or both, which gives them more stable revenue than early-stage developers. Clinical trial results, regulatory decisions and patent expirations still drive large moves, even for established companies.
Many biotechs report losses while products are in development, so P/E is often blank. The Analysts tab shows consensus ratings, price targets and upside, and the Valuation tab gives P/S for companies with sales. Check revenue growth in the Growth tab and the next earnings date, and remember that one drug can account for most of a company's revenue.
Best Biotech Stocks to Buy in 2026 FAQ
Which biotech stocks are the largest?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 105 biotechnology stocks had a market cap of $2 billion or more. The largest companies on the list are Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (VRTX), Moderna, Inc. (MRNA) and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (REGN).
What is the difference between biotech and pharma companies?
Biotech companies traditionally develop drugs from living organisms, such as proteins and antibodies, while pharmaceutical companies started with chemically synthesized small molecules. Today the line is blurred, and large drugmakers sell many biologic medicines too.
Why do biotech stocks move so much on trial results?
A company's value often rests on a few drug candidates. Positive data can raise the odds of approval and future sales, while a failed trial can erase much of that expected value in a single day.
