About this screen
Airlines are one of the most cyclical industries in the market. Revenue depends on travel demand and ticket prices, while fuel and labor make up a large share of costs, so small changes in either can swing profits sharply. Investors follow airline stocks as a read on consumer and business travel, and trade them around fuel prices, capacity plans and economic data.
The list includes all US-listed airlines with no size floor and is sorted by market cap. Airline earnings can be very low in a weak year, which pushes P/E to extremes, so EV/EBITDA in the Valuation tab often compares carriers better because it also accounts for debt and leases. Check debt/equity and 1Y performance as well. Foreign carriers that list ADRs in the US appear here too.
Airline Stocks FAQ
How many airline stocks are listed in the US?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 18 airline stocks were listed on US exchanges. The largest companies on the list are Delta Air Lines, Inc. (DAL), United Airlines Holdings, Inc. (UAL) and Ryanair Holdings plc (RYAAY).
Why are airline stocks so volatile?
Airlines have high fixed costs, heavy debt and thin margins, so changes in fuel prices or demand have an outsized effect on earnings. Events such as recessions, pandemics or labor disputes can quickly turn profits into losses.
What is EV/EBITDA and why use it for airlines?
EV/EBITDA divides enterprise value, which includes debt, by earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. Airlines own or lease expensive fleets financed with debt, so a measure that includes debt gives a fairer comparison than P/E alone.
