About this screen

Copper and industrial metals miners produce the raw materials for wiring, motors, batteries and power grids. Copper in particular is tied to electrification, since electric vehicles, renewable energy and grid expansion all use large amounts of it, while new mines take many years to develop. This list combines copper producers with diversified miners of nickel, zinc, lithium, rare earths and other industrial metals.

The list is sorted by market cap. Metal prices drive miners' earnings, so P/E is lowest when prices are high and can mislead near a cycle peak. Compare FCF yield and dividend yield in the Valuation and Dividends tabs, and 1Y performance for momentum. Development-stage companies with no production yet appear here too, so check revenue before comparing valuations.

Copper and Metals Mining Stocks FAQ

How many copper and metals mining stocks are there?

As of the October 29, 2026 close, 31 US-listed copper and industrial metals miners had a market cap of $500 million or more. The largest companies on the list are BHP Group Limited (BHP), Southern Copper Corporation (SCCO) and Rio Tinto Group (RIO).

Why is copper important for electrification?

Copper conducts electricity better than any other affordable metal. Electric vehicles use several times as much copper as combustion cars, and wind farms, solar plants and transmission lines need large quantities as well.

What moves mining stocks?

Metal prices are the main driver, followed by production volumes, operating costs and capital spending. Political and permitting risk in the countries where mines are located can also have a large effect on valuations.
