About this screen

Regional banks focus on lending and deposit gathering in specific states or regions, serving local businesses, commercial real estate borrowers and households. The group is large and varied, with wide gaps in valuation, profitability and loan mix. This screen keeps banks with a market cap between $1 billion and $50 billion, leaving out the smallest community lenders and the largest national banks.

Start with the Valuation tab to compare P/E and P/B, then add filters to narrow the list: a P/B below 1 finds banks trading under book value, and an ROE filter above 12% separates the more profitable ones. A cheap valuation can reflect concentrated commercial real estate exposure or rising deposit costs, so read loan quality data before drawing conclusions.

Regional Bank Stocks FAQ

Which regional bank stocks are the largest?

As of the October 29, 2026 close, 148 regional banks had a market cap between $1 billion and $50 billion. The largest companies on the list are Fifth Third Bancorp (FITB), KB Financial Group Inc. (KB) and M&T Bank Corporation (MTB).

What is the difference between a regional bank and a national bank?

Regional banks operate mainly in a group of states and focus on local commercial and consumer lending. Large national banks operate across the country and often run sizable investment banking, trading and card businesses as well.

Why are regional banks sensitive to interest rates?

Their income relies heavily on net interest margin, the gap between loan yields and deposit costs. When rates change quickly, deposit costs can rise faster than loan yields, and unrealized losses on bond holdings can reduce capital.
