About this screen

The small-cap universe is large and uneven: many companies worth under $2 billion lose money, depend on a single product or trade so thinly that prices can jump on small orders. This screen keeps only firms that are profitable, grew quarterly revenue by 15% or more year over year and trade at least 200,000 shares a day, as a starting point for research rather than a recommendation.

Small caps react more strongly to economic cycles and interest rates than large companies, and a single quarter of growth can reverse. Check the 3-year growth rates in the Growth tab and debt levels in the Profitability tab, and compare valuation with peers in the same industry before drawing conclusions. Fundamentals refresh after each earnings report.

Best Small-Cap Stocks to Buy in 2026 FAQ

Which small-cap stocks are profitable and growing?

As of the October 29, 2026 close, 159 profitable small caps worth $300 million to $2 billion grew quarterly revenue by 15% or more and traded at least 200,000 shares a day. The fastest growth was at Invesco Mortgage Capital Inc. (IVR), Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance, Inc. (ARI) and Versamet Royalties Corporation (VMET).

What is a small-cap stock?

A small-cap is usually a company with a market value between about $300 million and $2 billion. Companies below that are often called micro-caps.

Why filter small caps for profitability?

A large share of small public companies report losses, and their returns have historically lagged profitable peers. Requiring a positive net margin removes many of the most speculative names.
