About this screen
The bottom of the year-to-date ranking shows which established companies have disappointed investors most since January, whether through missed earnings, lowered guidance, regulatory trouble or an industry downturn. Contrarian investors look here for overreactions to bad news, and investors with taxable accounts often review these losers late in the year, especially when considering tax-loss harvesting.
A large decline makes a stock cheaper, not necessarily undervalued: earnings may be falling as fast as the price. Check revenue and EPS growth in the Growth tab, debt in the Profitability tab and analyst targets in the Analysts tab. Because the market cap floor is applied today, companies that fell below $2 billion are not shown.
Worst-Performing Stocks This Year FAQ
What are the worst-performing stocks this year?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 2,068 US-listed stocks had a market cap of $2 billion or more. The biggest year-to-date declines were at Regencell Bioscience Holdings Limited (RGC), Pony AI Inc. American Depositary Shares (PONY) and UWM Holdings Corporation (UWMC).
What is tax-loss harvesting?
It means selling an investment at a loss to offset capital gains elsewhere and reduce taxes. In the US, buying the same security back within 30 days triggers the wash-sale rule and disallows the loss.
Do the biggest losers tend to rebound?
Some do, and short-term reversals have been documented in research. Many keep falling, though, when the decline reflects lasting damage to the business.
