About this screen

Semiconductor ETFs give exposure to the companies that design, manufacture and supply equipment for computer chips, an industry tied to data centers, smartphones, cars and industrial electronics. Investors use these funds to own the whole supply chain instead of betting on a single chipmaker, though the group is cyclical and often swings more than the broad market.

The list is sorted by assets, which favors the most liquid funds, but holdings differ a lot. Some track cap-weighted indexes where a handful of large names dominate; others equal-weight or cap single positions. Compare holdings count and top-10 weight on the Fund tab, then volatility on the Risk tab. Leveraged chip funds are excluded and appear on the Leveraged ETFs page.

Best Semiconductor ETFs to Buy in 2026 FAQ

How many semiconductor ETFs are there?

As of the October 29, 2026 close, 24 non-leveraged semiconductor ETFs were listed in the US. The largest by assets are VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH), iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) and Fidelity Blue Chip Growth ETF (FBCG).

What is the difference between semiconductor ETFs?

They track different indexes. Some weight holdings by market cap, so a few giant chipmakers can make up half the fund; others use equal weights or position caps. Some include only US-listed companies, while others also hold foreign foundries and equipment makers.

Are semiconductor ETFs risky?

They are more volatile than broad market funds because chip demand moves in cycles of shortage and oversupply. Drawdowns of a third or more have happened in past downturns. The Risk tab shows each fund's 1-year volatility and maximum drawdown.
