About this screen
Net margin is net income divided by revenue, the share of sales left after every cost, interest payment and tax. A margin of 25% or more is rare and usually points to pricing power, low capital needs or a network advantage. Software, payment networks, semiconductor designers, exchanges and some royalty businesses tend to dominate lists like this one.
The Profitability tab shows gross, operating and net margin side by side. When net margin is far above operating margin, look for one-off gains such as asset sales or tax benefits that may not repeat. Margins are not comparable across all industries, so judge each company against its own peers and check revenue growth in the Growth tab.
High Profit Margin Stocks FAQ
Which large companies have the highest profit margins?
As of the October 29, 2026 close, 385 US-listed stocks with a market cap above $2 billion had a net profit margin of 25% or more. The highest margins were at BitVentures Limited (BVC), AllianceBernstein Holding L.P. (AB) and Array Digital Infrastructure, Inc. (AD).
What is the difference between gross, operating and net margin?
Gross margin subtracts only the direct cost of goods sold from revenue. Operating margin also subtracts overhead such as research, sales and administration. Net margin is what remains after interest, taxes and one-off items as well.
What is a good net profit margin?
It depends on the industry. Grocers and distributors often earn a few percent, while software and payment companies can exceed 30%. Compare a company with its direct competitors and with its own history rather than with the whole market.
