Access
Free. No API key needed. For higher limits, get a free API key and add api_token=YOUR_KEY to your requests.
Terms
Personal, non-commercial use only; redistribution of the data is not allowed. See the Terms of Service.
Format
JSON (UTF-8), gzip-compressed when your client accepts it.
Browsers
CORS enabled (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *), so fetch() works from any web page.
Fair use
Without a key: up to 2 requests per second per IP address. With a free API key: up to 10 requests per second. Above that you get HTTP 429 with Retry-After. Please cache responses.
Caching
Responses carry Cache-Control headers; data changes at most a few times a day.
Errors
{"status":404,"message":"not found"} – the same shape for every API.
Versioning
Response formats under /v1/ stay stable; breaking changes would get a new version path.
Frequently asked questions
Are the Quotelinks APIs free?
Yes. There is no charge, and no sign-up or API key is needed. Fair use applies: up to 2 requests per second per IP address without a key, or 10 requests per second with a free API key.
Can I use the APIs commercially?
No. The APIs are for personal, non-commercial use, and redistribution of the data is not allowed. For commercial use, contact support@quotelinks.com. See the Terms of Service.
Do I need an API key?
No. Send a plain HTTPS GET request to https://api.quotelinks.com/v1/... and you get JSON back (up to 2 requests per second). For up to 10 requests per second, get a free key and add api_token=YOUR_KEY.
Can I call the APIs from JavaScript in the browser?
Yes. Every response includes Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *, so fetch() works from any website.
What happens if I send too many requests?
Requests above the fair-use limit get HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. Wait a second and try again, and cache responses on your side.
Where does the data come from?
Each API documents its source. The Exchange Rates API serves the European Central Bank's euro foreign exchange reference rates; the SEC Fundamentals API is built from company filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (EDGAR).
