In short: Quotelinks and its free APIs are for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not redistribute, resell or republish data obtained from Quotelinks. Website owners may embed our official widgets and calculators with the credit line intact. For commercial use, contact us first.

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Quotelinks website at quotelinks.com, the data APIs at api.quotelinks.com documented at quotelinks.com/api/, and the widgets, calculators and charts we offer for embedding (together, the "Services"). The Services are operated by Ashkon Software L.L.C. ("Quotelinks", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. Personal, non-commercial license

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to access and use the Services, and the data, text, charts and other content made available through them ("Content"), for your personal, non-commercial use only, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

3. What counts as commercial use

Your use is commercial if any of the following applies:

  1. You use the Services for any purpose beyond your own investment analysis, research, learning, testing or monitoring that is private and individual in nature.
  2. You use the Services as, or on behalf of, a company, firm, partnership, trust or other organization rather than as an individual.
  3. You use the Services or their Content in any product, service, website, application or activity that gives people or organizations other than you direct or indirect access to that Content, whether or not you charge for it.

If you would like to use the Services commercially, contact us at support@quotelinks.com. Commercial use is permitted only with our prior written agreement.

4. No redistribution

Except as allowed in section 5 or in a written agreement with us, you may not, directly or indirectly:

  • redistribute, resell, sublicense, publish, broadcast or otherwise make available any Content obtained from the Services, in whole or in part, in any form;
  • use the Services or their Content to build or offer a competing database, data feed, API, website or application;
  • store or cache Content in order to serve it to others, or proxy, mirror or frame the APIs for others;
  • remove or alter any credit line, source notice or copyright notice.

Sharing a link to a Quotelinks page is always allowed.

5. Widgets, calculators and embeds

Website owners may embed our official widgets, calculators and charts free of charge, using the embed code on our pages, provided the embed is not modified, the credit line and its links stay visible and unchanged, and the embed is not presented as your own work. An embed shows Content served directly by Quotelinks; it gives you no right to copy, extract or store that Content. Open-source code we publish (for example on GitHub) is licensed under its own license, and our desktop software under its own license terms; those licenses do not grant any rights to Content from the Services.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • exceed the published fair-use limit of the APIs (about 10 requests per second per IP address), or try to get around rate limits, for example by spreading requests across many IP addresses;
  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the website's pages or data files by automated means, other than by search engines indexing the website;
  • interfere with, overload or disrupt the Services, or try to gain unauthorized access to them;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or otherwise try to extract the source code, data or underlying structure of the Services, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • use the Services in violation of any law or regulation.

We may block, throttle or refuse any request at our discretion.

7. Public data sources

Some Content comes from public sources, such as the European Central Bank's euro reference exchange rates and data published by U.S. government agencies. These Terms govern your use of the Services; they do not limit any right you may have to obtain the same public data directly from its original source under that source's own terms. If you display exchange rates, credit the source as described on the Exchange Rates API page.

8. Intellectual property

The Services, including their design, text, code, graphics, charts, compilations and calculated figures, belong to Ashkon Software L.L.C. or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. Company names, trademarks and logos shown on the Services belong to their respective owners.

9. Disclaimer and liability

The Services and Content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and are not investment advice. We do not guarantee that the Services will be available, timely, accurate or error-free, and we may change, limit or discontinue any part of them, including any API or response format, at any time without notice. The Disclaimer, including its No warranties and Limitation of liability sections, is part of these Terms. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ashkon Software L.L.C. from any claim arising out of your use of the Services in breach of these Terms.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access to the Services at any time, without notice, including if we believe you have breached these Terms. Sections 4, 8, 9 and 11 survive termination.

11. General

  • Changes. We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continued use of the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington.
  • Severability and waiver. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services, unless we have signed a separate written agreement with you.
