About the WTI crude oil price

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is the US benchmark crude oil, priced at Cushing, Oklahoma. The chart shows the monthly average of the daily spot price in dollars per barrel, as published by the Energy Information Administration.

Oil prices feed into gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and plastics, so big moves show up in inflation and corporate profits. In April 2020 the daily price briefly turned negative as storage ran out; monthly averages smooth that out.
