About the US average gas price
The chart shows the US average retail price of a gallon of regular gasoline, including taxes, from the Energy Information Administration’s weekly survey of filling stations. Values are monthly averages of the weekly prices.
Gas prices follow crude oil with a lag of a few weeks, plus refinery costs and taxes, and rise in spring and summer. They are among the most visible prices for households and a large part of the swings in headline inflation.
